Who is actually texting you#
Expanding Ranks is recruiting software. Recruiting organizations use it to keep track of the people they are hiring, and some of them text candidates as part of that.
A text you receive about a job comes from the recruiting organization, not from us. It is sent from that organization’s own phone number, under that organization’s own carrier account and its own registration with the carriers. Expanding Ranks LLC is not a telephone service provider or a text messaging provider. We are the software the recruiter is working in. The organization decides who to contact, what to say, and on what basis it believes it has your permission to contact you.
That matters for a practical reason. If you want to know why a particular company has your number, or you want it out of their records, the company that texted you is the one who can answer and the one who can act. The name of that organization is in the message you received. Candidate data and your rights in our Privacy Policy explains how we help them respond, and how to reach us if you are not sure who to ask.
What Expanding Ranks LLC sends from its own numbers#
We own one number and it does one thing: customer support, on 844-777-2657. It is toll-free and it is published on our Support page. One number does both, so you can call it or text it, whichever suits you.
If you text it, you are texting Expanding Ranks LLC directly, and a person reads it. Tell us how you would like us to get back to you. You will hear back within one business day, the same as the contact form and the voicemail on our Support page.
It only ever runs one way round. You text us first, and we pick up the conversation you started. That is the whole of the arrangement, and it is the whole of the consent story. We do not text anyone who has not texted us. We keep no list of numbers to send to, we do not take numbers from web forms or bought lists or any third party for messaging, and nothing here goes out on a schedule. Texting us is how you opt in. Replying STOP is how you stop.
Sign-in codes are the only other thing this number will ever be used for, if you choose a text message as your second factor for signing in. Those would go to people who hold an account with us, meaning the recruiters and staff at the organizations that buy the product, and never to a candidate. Everything else we send our own account holders, account alerts and billing notices included, goes by email.
What never comes from a number we own. No marketing and no promotions of any kind. No recruiting outreach, and no text to a candidate about a job. A text about a job comes from the recruiting organization, on that organization’s own number and under its own carrier registration, exactly as described in the section above. If you get marketing in a text claiming to be from Expanding Ranks, it did not come from us.
What the messages are about#
Messages sent by a recruiting organization through Expanding Ranks are about a job. In practice that means acknowledging an application, asking whether you are interested in a role, arranging or confirming an interview, and following up afterward.
Messages on our own support number are about whatever you texted us about. Somebody cannot sign in, something in the product is behaving oddly, a question about an invoice. It is a support conversation and it stays on the subject you raised.
They are not advertising. Expanding Ranks is not built to run marketing or promotional text campaigns, and it is not sold for that. If you receive a promotional text claiming to come from Expanding Ranks, it did not come from us, and we would like to know about it. Use the contact form on our Support page.
Frequency, and what it costs you#
Message frequency varies. It depends on where you are in that organization’s hiring process, and there is no fixed number of messages. A conversation about one job may be two messages or it may be a dozen.
On our own support number it varies for a simpler reason: we only ever answer, so how many messages there are is decided by your own conversation. If you never text us, you never hear from us.
Message and data rates may apply. Expanding Ranks LLC does not charge you anything for receiving or replying to these messages, but your own mobile carrier may, under your own plan. Check with your carrier if you are not sure what your plan includes.
STOP, HELP, and what each one does#
Reply STOP to any message and you will not be texted again. You do not have to explain why. We record that you opted out, and that record stops the recruiting organization that texted you from contacting you again. It covers every campaign that organization runs through us, not only the campaign that reached you. It is recorded against the phone number you replied from, and it is not tied to an email address. So if that same organization also emails you and you want the email to stop as well, say so to that organization directly, or tell us and we will pass it on.
Reply HELP for assistance. If nothing comes back, or what comes back does not answer your question, use the contact form on our Support page and a person will.
Two limits on STOP, and we would rather you read them here than find out the hard way. The record belongs to the organization that texted you. It does not reach a different organization that also uses Expanding Ranks. If two companies are both recruiting you, telling one to stop does not tell the other, because those are separate records held by separate companies and neither can see the other. And we hold it for as long as that organization’s account with us exists. When that account closes and its data is deleted, the record of your opt-out is deleted along with it.
You can also opt out by telling the organization directly, in any channel, and you do not need to use the word STOP to do it. If you would rather tell us instead, use the contact form on our Support page and we will pass it on and record it.
On our own support number, STOP and HELP work the same way and the stakes are lower. Reply STOP and we will not text you. Text HELP if you need a hand and a person will pick it up, the same as any other message you send us. Because we only ever answer a conversation you started, stopping it is mostly a matter of not writing to us again.
Delivery is not guaranteed#
Text messages travel over networks nobody in this arrangement controls. Carriers filter, delay, and drop messages for their own reasons, and a message that was sent is not always a message that arrived. Expanding Ranks LLC and the recruiting organization cannot guarantee that any particular message reaches you, or reaches you on time. If something matters, do not rely on a text alone.
Changes to these terms#
If we change this page we will update the effective date at the top and raise the version number.
Version 1.1 is the change this page promised to make. Version 1.0 said Expanding Ranks LLC sent nothing from its own numbers, and undertook to describe any program of its own here before the first message went out. What Expanding Ranks LLC sends from its own numbers now describes the support number, which is the one and only thing we do from a number we own. If that ever widens, this page says so first.
Contact us#
Use the contact form on our Support page, or text us on 844-777-2657. Tell us the phone number the message reached and roughly when, and we can find it. If you are asking a company to stop contacting you, the fastest route is still to reply STOP to the message itself.
